Susan Moats

Susan C. Moats, 66, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf following a courageous battle with cancer.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf where she was a devoted member.  She will be laid to rest at Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport.  Visitations will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf and from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Friday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan C. Moats Memorial Fund.

She was born September 7, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John F. & Doris A. (Napoletano) Rosteck.  On January 21, 1967, she was united in marriage to Lloyd William “Bill” Moats in Waterloo, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on June 11, 2004.

Sue was employed for ten years at the Rock Island Arsenal Day Care Center.  In earlier years, she provided day-care in her home.

She was a devoted wife, mom & grandma and will be deeply missed by those who knew & loved her..  Sue enjoyed landscaping, sewing and caring for little ones.  She was active in her church volunteering in the church nursery and serving on the Education Commission.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Alyssa Bennett of Rock Island, Illinois and Amy Moats of Bettendorf; her son W. Kurt (Carrie) Moats of Granger, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan), Brice, Jackson, Pacey, Mattisen, Ethan, Jace, Kelsey & Cameron; her great-grandsons, Brayden & Roeign and a great-granddaughter expected soon; her brothers, John (Diane) Rosteck of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Michael (Lori) Rosteck of Janesville, Iowa and Brian (Lisa) Rosteck of Marion, Iowa; and many other relatives and wonderful friends.

In addition to her husband, Sue was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Kerr; and by her parents.
