Taft M. “Dee” Nimmick, 90, of Cordova, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Trinity Rock Island.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Jack’s Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Dee was born September 18, 1926 in Dongola, Arkansas, the daughter of Jack & Maybelle (Harrell) Smith. She was united in marriage to Dale “Bill” Nimmick on May 11, 1956 in Davenport, Iowa.
Dee was retired from Olathea Golf Course in LeClaire. She enjoyed needlepoint, gardening and canning and will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother.
Those left to honor Dee’s memory include her husband, Bill; her children, Butch (Cindy) Nimmick of Clinton, Iowa, Doug (Janis) Nimmick of Lost Nation, Iowa, Carol (Jeff) Suiter of Princeton, Iowa, Mary (Mike) Caldwell of Cabot, Arkansas and Bava (Russ) Prunty of Atkinson, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren with two on the way.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Barbara Ann Long; and a grandson, Gary Long.
