Tama Lynn Nelson-Berner, 33, a resident of Blue Grass, Iowa died Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa following a courageous 6-month battle with leukemia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 3, 2003 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 5520 Eastern Ave. in Davenport. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Grace Evangelical Free Church.
She was born July 15, 1970 in Davenport, the daughter of Jim & Pam (Dismer) Nelson and was a 1988 graduate of Davenport West High School. On April 20, 1996, she married Kevin Berner in Davenport.
Tama was also a 2001 graduate of the University of Iowa and received her nursing degree from Scott Community College in December of 2002.
She was the Infant & Child Services Coordinator for Genesis Visiting Nurses Association and also worked as a registered nurse at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus.
Her family was the joy of her life and her beloved sons, Jake & Jarrett always had a special place in her heart. She will always be fondly remembered by those she loved and by those who loved her.
Tama & her family loved to travel and in her spare time, she also enjoyed gardening at her home & fishing with her boys.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Kevin; her sons, Jake & Jarrett; her brothers, Josh Nelson of Hollandale, Minnesota, Jim Jager and Johnny Jager, both of Blue Grass, Mike Jager and Jason Jager, both of Milan, Tennessee and George Jager of Bettendorf; her parents, Pam & Jim Jager of Blue Grass; her parents-in-law, Julie Campbell and Dennis & Cindy Berner, all of Davenport; and many other relatives and treasured friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Nelson.
