Ted Hansen

Theodore E. “Ted” Hansen, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died late Tuesday evening at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. The family invites you to join them for a gathering of remembrance at their home (5034 Eagle Ct. in Davenport) from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday.
Ted was born July 28, 1931 in Ely, Nevada to P. Theodore & Edna (Rees) Hansen. He grew up in Magna, Utah and Tooele, Utah and attended Brigham Young University where he was a member of the baseball team.
In his early years, Ted was a pilot for the Civil Air Patrol & Rescue and also served as a volunteer fireman in Tooele. The majority of his working life was with the Department of Defense where he was stationed in Japan, Germany, Korea and several of the United States. Ted retired as a Quality Assurance Surveillance Ammunition Specialist (QASAS) after 43 years of faithful federal service. Ted was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
On September 15, 1971, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cheri Powers at the American Embassy in Seoul, Korea. Their marriage ceremony was repeated in a military chapel in Taegu, Korea and later sealed for eternity at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ted was known for his wit & humor. His passions were baseball (especially the Chicago Cubs), airplanes & flying and tending to his lawn for which he took great pride. Above all else, the love and companionship of his beloved family was the center of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Cheri; his sons, Chris (Jamie) Hansen of Ankeny, Iowa and Kevin (Susan) Hansen of New Boston, New Hampshire; his daughter, Karen Hansen of Stansbury Park, Utah; his granddaughters, Amanda Hansen, Erika Hansen & Hailey Hansen; a new grandson expected in June; and his trusted canine companion, Woody.
Ted was preceded in death by his son, T. Michael Hansen.
