Terry Lee “Buffy” Behrens, 59 of Long Grove, surrounded by his loved ones, died Friday, February 9, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Burial will follow at Mt. Joy Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The Wapsi Environmental Center in Dixon, Iowa.
Terry, son of Lorenz and Marian (Kelly) Behrens, was born February 15, 1958 in Oelwein, Iowa. He was a 1976 North Scott High School graduate and attended Muscatine Community College. In 1985, Terry married Bobbie Post Noel at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Terry, a kind man with humble intelligence and sharp wit, had many interests and affiliations. He was an avid outdoorsman, Master Conservationist, Cub Scout Master, member of the Long Grove Sportsmen’s Club, involved in the youth hunter safety program, a sports enthusiast especially supporting the Green Bay Packers. He was a “star” football player in high school who, with his teammates, was inducted into his school’s Hall of Fame. He was employed at W G Block Company.
Terry was an extremely patriotic American and was proud to have the opportunity to escort his father on the 2013 honor flight.
Terry enjoyed food, whether it was cooking, reading about it, or eating it, he enjoyed it all. He won several local cooking contests and loved sharing his desserts with others. Terry and Bobbie enjoyed traveling, especially to New Orleans, where they immersed themselves into the city’s culture, history, and cuisine.
Survivors include his wife; parents; children: Toby Behrens, Amanda (Rick) Dryoel, Nate (Jaime) Noel; grandchildren: Zac, Ethan, Faith, Caden; and his brother, Marty Behrens (Susan Bassie) of Normal, Illinois.
