Terry J. Laughlin, 62, a resident of Davenport, Iowa and formerly of rural Donahue, Iowa died on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.
Per his wishes, Terry’s body was donated to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Memorials may be made to the Bret Miller Memorial Scholarship through the North Scott Educational Foundation. Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born November 20, 1948 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of James & Juanita (Carter) Laughlin. In earlier years, Terry was employed as a welder with OK Welding of Davenport.
He was an avid racing fan and was a former local stock car driver himself. Following his active racing days, he sponsored local stock car drivers, Kory & Kelly Meyer of Big Rock, Iowa. He also enjoyed sponsoring his grandchildren in go-kart racing.
Those left to honor his memory include his former wife, Sandy; his daughter, Kate (Todd) Zaehringer of Clinton, Iowa; his son, Steve Laughlin of Dixon, Iowa; his grandchildren, Aletha Laughlin, Paige Zaehringer and Riley Zaehringer; his sister, Sue (Herb) Spies of Atalissa, Iowa; and his father & step-mother, James & Jan Laughlin of Moscow, Iowa.
Terry was preceded in death by his grandson, Bret Miller; and by his mother, Juanita.
