Terry R. Jay

Terry R. Jay, 72, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, Arizona where he & his wife were winter residents.
A memorial service for Terry will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf where he was a member. The family will greet friends following the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity of the Quad-Cities or Trees-R-Us. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born October 19, 1934 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, the son of Kenneth R. & Greta H. (Zuck) Jay. On June 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to JoAnn P. Kerr in Northlake, Illinois.
Terry was employed as the District Manager for Davey Tree Service, retiring in 1997 after 43 years of faithful service.
His memberships included Asbury United Methodist Church, the National Rifle Association, the Iowa Arbor Association, Trees-R-Us, AARP and a former member of the Davenport Moose.
He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and being among the great things that Mother Nature had to offer.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, JoAnn; his daughters, Deb (Paul) Hayes of Clive, Iowa, Alison (Darrel) Bernhardt of Davenport, Iowa and Claudia (Augie) Landis of Las Vegas, Nevada; his son, Brian (Jill) Jay of Davenport; his grandchildren, Jennifer Jay, Elizabeth Hayes, Kenneth Jay, Eric Hayes, Chealsea Bernhardt, Nick Bernhardt, Ben Landis, Anders Landis and Spenser Landis; his sister, Diane Sandnes of Addision, Illinois; and his nephews, Scott, Timothy & Jeffrey.
Terry was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert Sandnes; and by his parents.
