Thelma L. Young, 88, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at her home.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 8, 2011 in the chapel at Davenport Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born in LeClaire, Iowa on November 27, 1922, the daughter of Frank & Anna Mae (Clark) Hann. On November 27, 1943, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Young in Davenport. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1997.
Thelma was employed at the former Warren Packaging Company of Davenport, retiring in 1984 after 34 years of faithful service.
She was a devoted wife, mom & grandma who loved an occasional visit to the gambling boats and treasured the times spent with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Betty (Gary) Holt of Davenport; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Robert Fredell of Orion, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, Thelma was preceded in death by her daughter, Pat Fredell; and seven sisters & brothers.
