Thelma M. Meade

Thelma Marie Meade, 79, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at the Davenport Good Samaritan Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quad-Cities Chapter of the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
She was born March 12, 1925 in Weathersfield, Illinois, the daughter of John & Grace (Holmann) Ensley. On March 26, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lester L. Meade in Big Rock, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1979.
Thelma was employed as a baker and production worker for the Wonder Bread Bakery in Davenport for over 30 years.
She was a loyal and devoted member of the Riverview Freewill Baptist Church of Bettendorf. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, painting with oils, water color & pastels and crocheting.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter & son-in-law, Jeanette & Thomas Verhelst of Irving, Texas; her sons & daughter-in-law, Thomas & Diane Meade of Jacksonville, Florida and John & Diane Meade of Davenport; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, five brothers and a great-granddaughter.
