Theodore Lahti

Theodore R. “Ted” Lahti, 74, of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Living Lands & Waters of East Moline, Illinois.

Ted was born April 7, 1940 in Sycamore, Illinois, the son of John & Francis (Ericksen) Lahti.  He was united in marriage to Alice “Mickey” Kerwin in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 18, 1989.  She preceded him in death on March 16, 2011.

Ted was a Millwright by trade.  He enjoyed living and fishing along the Mississippi River and spending time with his friends along the river.  He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand.

Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Shawn Lahti and Dustin Lahti; his granddaughter, Hannah Yvette Lahti; his daughters, Michelle Russell, Catherine Roysdon, Saundra Behm and Jamie Wilkins; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Alice Bennett and Ruth Glugla.

In addition to his wife, Mickey, Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Andrea; his grandson, Justin; his sister, Mary McCue; and his brother, Bill Lahti who had died in the Korean War.
