Thomas J. Brandt Jr.

Thomas J. Brandt Jr., 68, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 12th surrounded by his beloved family following a brief and brave battle with cancer.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 16th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born in Davenport, Iowa on November 12, 1956, the son of Thomas J. and Anna Mae (Hanley) Brandt. Tom was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a medic prior to his honorable discharge.

On October 6, 1979, he was united in marriage to Jennifer J. Gill in Davenport.

He was employed at the Alcoa Company for 15 years, retiring in 2019. In earlier years, Tom worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 25 years, retiring in 2002.

Coaching girls’ softball was a favorite activity as well as riding the bike path. Above all, spending time with his beloved family was the center of his life.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jenny; his daughter, Valerie (Josh) Wold of Davenport; his son, Nathan (Katie) Brandt of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Joshua, Madison and soon to be born, Jaxon; his sister, Patty (Mark) Jasmer in Minnesota; and an aunt, uncle, other relatives and wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
