Thomas W. Ryner, 81, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Riverview Manor in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded and contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bettendorf where he was a member.
Tom was born May 30, 1934 near DeWitt, Iowa, one of two children of Asa & Isabel (Thurston) Ryner. He served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956 and was united in marriage to Mary Kratzer on September 7, 1959 in Davenport.
Tom was employed with Mid-American Energy for 23 years.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Mary; his daughter, Nancy Farney of Pueblo West, Colorado; his son, Michael Ryner of Bettendorf; his grandsons, Eli Farney of Denver, Colorado and Jacob Farney of Salt Lake City, Utah; and his brother, David Ryner of Clinton, Iowa.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
