Thomas R. Griffith

Thomas R. Griffith III, 56, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of Des Moines, Iowa died Friday, October 22, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 28, 2004 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
He was born June 23, 1948 in Des Moines, the beloved son of Thomas R. & Lucy (Bell) Griffith Jr. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and Drake University, both in Des Moines.
Tom was employed as a truck driver for 25 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local #371.
Among the things he enjoyed were hunting, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors. In addition, he loved to play golf and was a avid fan of the New York Yankees. His family, more than anything else, was a special part of Tom’s life and he will be dearly missed by those who knew & loved him.
Those left to honor his son, Thomas Griffith IV of Davenport; his mother, Lucy Griffith of Des Moines; his sister & brother-in-law, Joan & Andrew Lyons of Des Moines; his nieces, Jennifer & Laura; and many cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by his father.
