Tim Kenneth Jones, 58, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana (formerly of Donahue, Iowa) passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at The Crossing in Baton Rouge after a brief battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Donahue Sportsman Park in his honor.
Tim was born September 22, 1959, in Aberdeen, Washington, the son of Don and Jan (Rorick) Jones. After high school, he completed his electrical apprenticeship and joined IBEW #145 as a union electrician retiring in 2012 after almost 35 years.
Tim’s greatest joy was coaching his three daughters’ softball teams, watching NASCAR races, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He served on the Donahue Sportsman Club Board and was a volunteer fire fighter. After moving to Baton Rouge, he always talked fondly of his home in Donahue that he built by hand with his father after high school. Everyone loved his sense of humor and quick wit.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Sara (Jeff) Loquist of Baton Rouge, Kathryn (James) Howard of Hampstead, North Carolina and Kristin (Basil) Hasan of Baton Rouge; his grandchildren, Madelyn, Paxton, Chance, and Brett; his sisters, Toni (Mark) Wamsley and Tracy Eagleson, both of Davenport, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents.
