Valiera A. Oetzmann, 96, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Allen’s Grove Cemetery in rural Donahue, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the Donor's choice or to the Donahue Volunteer Fire Department.

Valiera was born September 30, 1917 in rural Scott County, the daughter of Herman & Agnes (Flenker) Friederichs.  She was united in marriage to Lloyd Oetzmann on December 15, 1937 in Davenport.  With sixty-two years of marriage, he preceded her in death in September of 2000.

Valiera had driven a school bus for the North Scott School District for over thirty years.  A devout wife, mother and homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and cooking and will be remembered for her many quilts over the years.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie & Richard Shumaker of Tipton, Iowa;  her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald & Donna Oetzmann of Long Grove, Iowa, Larry Oetzmann & Jane Jewell of Donahue, Dennis & Pat Arp Oetzmann of Dixon, Iowa, Gene & Mary Oetzmann of Eldridge and Bill & Julie Oetzmann of DeWitt, Iowa; twenty-one grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Lloyd, she was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Vera; her grandson, Jeff Oetzmann; her great-grandson, Justin Wold; her grandson-in-law, John Wold; and her daughter-in-law, Mary L. Oetzmann.
