Venita E. (Thomsen) Sharp, 87, a resident of Bettendorf, died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Iowa Masonic Health Facilities in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa Masonic Health Facilities or Genesis Hospice.
Venita was born on April 13, 1930 in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Frances (Guhl) Thomsen. On May 24, 1953 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, she married William E. Sharp. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2005.
Venita worked as a secretary for Alcoa for 38 years, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed ceramics and playing BINGO.
Those left to honor her memory include her special friend, Don Hartz of Bettendorf; her sisters and their husbands, Verda and Jack Scott of DeWitt and Valerie and Denny Hickey of Bradford, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Alice Thomsen of Olin, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Velma Zimmerman; and a brother, Victor Thomsen.
