Venita K. Statser, 73, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour before the services on Wednesday. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to the choir of St. James Lutheran Church in Bettendorf.
Venita was born August 11, 1938 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Willard & Velma (Hollingsworth) Brager. She had attended schools in the Ventura, Iowa area. She was united in marriage to Jack L. Statser in 1970 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline, Illinois. Venita and Jack had spent their winters in El Cajon, California for many years where they had made many friends. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2004.
Venita had many varied interests, particularly music and dancing. In earlier years, she had bowled and played the piano and organ. She was employed as an Avon representative for many years.
In addition to St. James Lutheran Church where she had sung in the choir, her memberships included the Scott County Republican Women and the LIFT Organization of the Quad-Cities. She was also Past-President of the VFW Post 9128 Women’s Auxiliary in Bettendorf and an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Venita loved the company of her family and friends and will be missed.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters & sons-in-law, Rhonda & Tim Tisinger of Bettendorf , RaNae & Jim Ehrecke of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and Rheta & Chris Foley of Davenport; her son & daughter-in-law, Jason & JoAnn Statser of Atoka, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Amy (Brett) Butler, Joshua, Jacob & Sarah Tisinger, Heather (Chuck)Shipman, Natalie (Matt) McDermott, and Brett & Tyler Statser; her great-grandchildren, Thomas & William Shipman and Riley Sue McDermott; her sister, Norma Darlene (Derwood) Wells of Clear Lake, Iowa; and her brothers, Marvin (Adelaide) Brager of Ventura and Larry (Sandy) Brager of LeClaire, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, Jack, Venita was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Kenneth & Ronald.
