Verna Clinton

Verna Clinton, 86, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Saturday, February 28, 2004 at Crest Health Center, Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 1801 Mississippi Blvd., Bettendorf for their Our House Pre-School Program.
She was born December 22, 1917 in Leavenworth, Washington, the daughter of W. Foster & Agnes Viola (Wellemeyer) Bickel. On September 22, 1942, she was united in marriage to Stanley F. Clinton in San Francisco, California
Verna received her degree in home economics from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and later taught in Pleasant Lawn, Iowa and Westchester, Iowa
Her memberships included Asbury United Methodist Church and the Zeta Tau Alpha National Sorority. For many years, she was a devoted member of the United Methodist Women.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Stanley; her daughter & son-in-law, Sharon E. & Kevin A. Jones of Davenport; her son & daughter-in-law, Jeffrey B. & Deborah Clinton of Davenport; her grandchildren, Jonathan J. Clinton, Andrew M. Clinton and Elizabeth M. Jones; and a niece.
