Veva Cale

Veva E. Cale, 97, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m., until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Veva was born May 31, 1918 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn & Clara (Martini) Phillips.  She was united in marriage to Charles J. Cale on July 2, 1937 in Bettendorf.  He preceded her in death on January 16, 2004.

Veva will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was devoted to her family.  She enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casinos and traveling to Las Vegas with her husband for many years.  Veva was an excellent baker and cook and had made candy for many years.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Linda Cale of Bettendorf and Ron & Ardeania Cale of Davenport; her grandchildren, Michele (Brian) Fowler of Davenport, Ryan Cale of Davenport and Jennifer (Aric) Wouters of Bettendorf; her great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Allison Fowler and Addison Wouters; her sister, Thelma Bowers of Pleasant Valley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Veva was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Flora Goeke; her brothers, Harvey and Harley Phillips; and an infant daughter.
