Victoria Lynn “Vickie” McElhiney, 58, a resident of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Moline.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Eldridge. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6th at the church. Memorials may be made to the family for the benefit of her son, Stephen’s education fund. Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on October 5, 1955 in Moline, the daughter of Bill and Patricia (Stout) Burton. On October 14, 1978 at Moline Gospel Temple, she married Daniel McElhiney.
Vickie was a registered nurse and started her career working in the emergency room for various hospitals. She later worked as a school nurse for North Scott School District in Eldridge for 19 years, retiring this past April. Vickie started Memories Forever, a videography business converting VCR tapes to DVD. She was very active in Cornerstone Baptist Church where she served on the media team for many years. She was an avid, life-long, Chicago Cubs fan. Vickie cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Daniel; sons, Jason (Michelle) McElhiney of Olathe, KS, Joseph (Karen) McElhiney of Bettendorf and Stephen McElhiney of Chicago; four grandchildren, Anna, Ella, Zachary and Brianna; her parents, Bill and Patricia Burton of Eldridge; two sisters, Diana (Donavon) Wood of Moline and Roberta (Dennis) Williams of Clinton; and one brother, William (Lynn) Burton of Parkview.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
