Viola "Kay" Haessler, 54, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died Monday, November 17, 2003 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 20, 2003 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born February 6, 1949 in Maryville, Tennessee, the daughter of Mack & Anna (Morrison) Fields. On May 1, 1980, she was united in marriage to Leroy J. Haessler in LeClaire.
Kay was a registered nurse and a graduate of the Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She was employed as a nurse with the Beacon of Hope Hospice in Davenport and had also worked at the former Mercy Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital, both in Davenport.
Among the things she enjoyed were traveling and all of the wonderful times spent with her beloved family. She had a great love for music and sang in her family’s band, the “Individuals” for over 25 years. Kay was a very kind & caring person who will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew & loved her.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Leroy; her son, Matthew Haessler of Bettendorf; her step-son & daughter-in-law, John & Heidi Haessler of Altoona, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jordyn, Abigail & Christian; her parents, Mack & Anna Fields of Bridgview, Illinois; her sisters, Donna Woody of Bridgeview, Marlene Willingham of Romeoville, Illinois, Sue Martin of Hickory Hills, Illinois, JoAnn Fields of Bridgeview, Connie Maniscalco of Valpariso, Indiana and Karen Mulligan of Lincoln, Illinois; her brothers, Mack Fields Jr. of Bridgeview, Richard Fields of Bridgeview, Larry Fields of Homewood, Illinois, Michael Fields of Burbank, Illinois and Jeff Fields of Alsip, Illinois; eighteen nieces & nephews, all of the Chicago area; her mother-in-law, Catharine Haessler of LeClaire; her sisters-in-law, Lorreta Hartz of LeClaire and Karen Cox of Wapello, Iowa; her brothers-in-law, Edward, Robert & Duayne Haessler, all of LeClaire; and special family friends, Floyd & Mary Mizer of Princeton, Iowa, Chris Butler of Charlotte, North Carolina and Marilyn Gibson of Palm Harbor, Florida.
