Violet M. Larson, 92, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Manor Care, Utica Ridge, Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm., Saturday, December 22, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf or Heartland Hospice.

Violet was born May 12, 1920 in Davenport, the daughter of Glenn E. & Rose H. (Steele) VanSant.  She married Donald J. Larson in Bettendorf on December 15, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1984.Violet retired from the former Schlegel Drug in Bettendorf where she was employed as a cosmetologist. She was a long-time member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Violet was loved by all, and will be remembered for her smile and her fun-loving nature. One of her joys was the beautiful cookie trays she made each Christmas. Violet was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan and she also loved the penny slots. Always cheerful, she will be missed by all who loved her.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Roger Granbois of Bettendorf;  son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Mary Larson of Kingsport, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Judy Larson of Bettendorf; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard; her sister, Luella Henderson; and her brothers, Roy, Bennie, Homer & Dale.

The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care Utica Ridge and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care.
