Virginia Duffy

Virginia A. Duffy, 89, a resident of Davenport, Iowa formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Bickford Cottage, Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday,  June 23, 2012 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church.

Virginia was born August 28, 1922 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Ralph and Sadie (Voght) Schneider.  She was a graduate of Westmar College, Le Mars, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to Robert T. Duffy on June 26, 1945 in Sioux City.  He preceded her in death on April 14, 1975.

Virginia worked for the American Red Cross during World War II.  She was later employed in the Guidance Office of Bettendorf High School for 21 years retiring in 1985.

She was a member of the King’s Daughters and of the Ruth Circle at Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Colleen (Bill) Johnson, Bettendorf and Julie Malmberg, Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Barb (John) Lindell, Minnesota, Todd (Lori) Johnson, Bettendorf and Dennis (Heather) Colclasure, Eldridge, Iowa; her great-grandchildren Sydney and Kailey Johnson and Addison Colclasure and all of her special friends on Edgewood Drive that sat out with her every evening.

In addition to her husband Robert, she was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Dennis Duffy.
