Walter L. Brown, 94, of LeClaire, died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20th at the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Education Foundation, LeClaire 4-H or the LeClaire Fire Department.

Born on July 20, 1920 in Princeton, Iowa, Walter was the son of Harry and Mae (Fletcher) Brown. On April 4, 1946 in LeClaire, he married Dorothy Suiter. She preceded him in death on August 12, 1998.

Walter was a graduate of Princeton High School. He was a farmer in rural LeClaire and also worked at LeClaire Quarries. Walter was a member of the Farm Bureau, Our Savior Presbyterian Church in Argo, Board of Elderly Housing in LeClaire and the Pleasant Valley School District Board, where he had served as president.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Peggy Claussen and her husband, Dan of Bettendorf and Randy Brown of LeClaire; three grandchildren, Danet Dexter, Jeff Claussen and his wife, Jennifer and Kelly Benson and her husband, Mike; and seven great-grandchildren, Beau, Ashley and Cody Dexter, Cole and Cale Claussen, Brandon and Brock Benson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pearl Ormsby and Stella Brown and three brothers, Raymond, Elmer and Howard Brown.
