Walter Donn Nelson

Walter Donn Nelson, 76, of Bettendorf, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. There will be a gathering following the memorial service at the Valley Inn in Pleasant Valley, Iowa. Graveside services will take place at a later date at Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Donn was born March 11, 1933 in Milton, Iowa, the son of Dana & Lois (Henderson) Nelson. He operated Nelson Excavating and in later years, Nelson Irrigation.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Pete Gagne, Gary Gagne, Sharon Hanson, Linda Worden-Clark, Donna Small, Dana Nelson, Dawn Turner and David Nelson; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Sue (John) Meier.
