Walter L. Catlin, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Manor Care Utica Ridge in Bettendorf.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
He was born May 12, 1925 in Canton, Ohio, the son of Claude E. & Marie (Klingenberg) Catlin. Walter was united in marriage to Doris L. Burrier in Canton. She preceded him in death on 1993. He was later united in marriage to Jessie L. (Leight) Fusselman on January 31, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Walter retired from the Quad-City Freight Company and in earlier years had worked for Warren Packaging of Davenport, Nichols Homeshield of Davenport and the Rock Island Bridge & Iron Company of Rock Island, Illinois.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army with the 81st Infantry Division and served two enlistments.
During his leisure time, Walt enjoyed playing golf with his friends and league bowling.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jessie; his son, Lee E. Catlin of Bettendorf; his granddaughter, Lisa Marxen; and his great-grandchildren, Kyle & Kelsey Marxen.
