Wayne C. Little, 84, of Bettendorf and formerly of Princeton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2008 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors conducted by the Buffalo Bill American Legion Post 347 of LeClaire will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Wayne was born March 8, 1925 in Princeton, the son of George & Pearl (Soltau) Little. During World War II he served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after the war. On May 21, 1947, Wayne was united in marriage to Adda Jean Ballard in Iowa City, Iowa.
Wayne farmed in Princeton for many years and had also worked at Alcoa in Riverdale for a number of years. He was an active member of the Buffalo Bill American Legion Post 347 of LeClaire and the Aluminum, Brick & Glassworkers Union Local 105.
Among the many things Wayne enjoyed were woodworking and nature in general, especially Botany. He also enjoyed Gospel music and was also an avid reader.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of sixty-two years, Adda; his daughters, Linda (Karl) Krieling of Bettendorf, Jackie Siefers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Billie (Mike) Davids of Princeton and Christine Little of Davenport; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his brother, Larry (LaVonne) Little of Princeton.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Evelyn Farley; his grandson, Dustin Vens; and his brothers, Glenn & Dean Little.
