Wesley C. Hartson, 74, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. Those wishing to attend will gather at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa at 8:30 A.M. on Friday.

Wesley was born July 14, 1936 in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Jim “Jacey” and Helen (Onley) Hartson. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gisele M. Cybulski on May 8, 1971 in Moline, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2007.

Wesley served his country in the United States Marine Corps for eight years and then in the United States Navy Seabee’s for many more years.

He was a lifelong electrician who worked as a lineman for the local phone company in Cedar Falls/Waterloo, Iowa, the Rock Island Railroad, Firestone, and the J.I. Case Company. In his later years he worked as a security guard for John Deere.

He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and was a pilot who loved to fly and attend nearby air shows.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Susan (Russell) Cox, Clinton, Iowa and Sharon (Gary) Vandenbergh, Wasilla, Alaska; his sons, David (Marla) Hartson, Deltona, Florida and Michael (Ellen) Hartson, Washington, Iowa; his step-daughter, Linda Nelson, Bettendorf; his step-sons, Jean Nelson, Arkansas, Robert Nelson, Arkansas and Larry (Vickie) Nelson, Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Cody.

In addition to his beloved wife, Gisele, he was preceded in death by his parents.
