Wilbert Schaff

Wilbert J. “Willie” Schaff, 91, a resident of Davenport, Iowa and formerly of Eldridge, Iowa died on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 PM. at the Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 29, 2014 in the chapel at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport.  Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Eldridge.

Wilbert was born November 11, 1923 to Lenard and Effie (Boeh) Schaff on the farm near Eldridge where he lived most of his life.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Lenore Schaff, a sister, Dorothy Schaff, a brother, William Schaff and a niece, Carol Warner.

He is survived by a special friend, Shirley Danforth of Eldridge; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Annette Schaff of Waynesboro, Virginia; four nephews, Dean Schaff, Dana Schaff, Eric Schaff and Mark Schaff; several grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and his devoted friend, Jim Schneckloth of Eldridge.

In addition to farming, Wilbert served many years as a director for the Central Scott Telephone Company of Eldridge.  He was a life-long member of the Hereford Association and loved assisting his good friend, Don Schneckloth at Belgian Draft Horse Shows.
