Wilbert W. Kroeger, 93, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Iowa Masonic Health Facility, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 8, 2006 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. Friday until the time of the services. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children or the American Cancer Society.
Wilbert was born December 23, 1912 in rural Princeton, Iowa, the son of Detlef & Emma (Bruhn) Kroeger. He was united in marriage to Bert Wiese in 1943. She preceded him in death on January 27, 1968. He was later united in marriage to Irma Baumbach-Forari in Bettendorf on March 28, 1975. She preceded him in death on March 8, 1989.
Wilbert had been employed with Scott County Public Works Department. He had also served with the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Princeton Lions Club, Snow Lodge #44 of LeClaire, Iowa, Kaaba Shrine, and the Mohassan Grotto. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and in earlier years, enjoyed ballroom dancing.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Kimberly Kroeger; his step son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Shirley Forari, of Bettendorf; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wives, Bert & Irma, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Norma Zabel, Eleanor Sullivan, Alma Johnson, and Verona Ward; and his brothers, Louie, Ernest, Harvey, and Arno.
