Willard Wayne “Mac” McGinnis, 74, a resident of Davenport, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Manor Care – Locust St. in Davenport.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Born on May 2, 1939 in Iowa City, Wayne was the son of Willard A. and Bertha (Kramer) McGinnis. Wayne married Joan Schwieters-Gilbraith. They later divorced.
Wayne served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 – 1958. Wayne worked for Alcoa for 37 years. He was a member of the Davenport Elks Lodge. Wayne enjoyed collecting coins, was a John Wayne fan and was an avid World War II History buff. He was a faithful attendee of First United Presbyterian Church in Moline.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Debbie (Ryan) Parks of Davenport and James Wayne (Donna) McGinnis of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren, Joshua and Hannah Edmond, Terrance and Amanda McGinnis; and a sister, Beverly Edell of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle; one brother, James Mackin; one sister, Katherine Darlene Collins.
