Willard H. McMorran, 81, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Kahl Home in Davenport, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. until the times of the services on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at a later date in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home.

Willard was born November 24, 1931 in Carbon, Iowa, the son of Harry E. & Beulah M. (Dixon) McMorran.  He was a 1949 graduate of Corning High School in Corning, Iowa and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was united in marriage to Connie Harding and later to Lois M. Cross.  Lois preceded him in death on May 25, 2011 after 44 years of marriage.

Willard was employed with the Bettendorf School District for over 30 years and retired as the Head of Maintenance.  After retirement, he and Lois relocated to Bonita Springs, Florida.  They traveled extensively and were always planning their next adventure.  He enjoyed cooking, maintaining a botanical garden in Florida, walking his dog Sammy, and had a fondness for farming, as he had grown up on a farm.  He was a dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Tracey (Connie) McMorran of Bettendorf, Chris McMorran of Lennox, Iowa, Forrest (Jude) Cross of Bettendorf and Amy Jo (William) Grunder of Princeton, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Ruth McMorran of Bettendorf.

In addition to his wife, Lois, Willard was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Rebecca Sue Krell in 2004; and his brothers, Marvin on January 15, 2013 and Harold who died in infancy.
