William A. Archibald, 78, of Davenport, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Wapello, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice.
Bill was born September 23, 1932 in Wapello, the son of William & Nola (Grasham) Archibald. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and had been stationed in Alaska.
He was united in marriage to Ona Jane Brewer on July 8, 1956 in Davenport. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2009.
Bill was retired from Alcoa in Riverdale, Iowa where he had been employed for forty-three years as a mill operator. He had built street rods for many years and was a member of the Quad-City Cruisers, the Good Guys and the National Street Rod Association. Bill and Ona had, for many years spent the summer months at their cabin on Lake Odessa in Wapello, where he had enjoyed fishing with his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Cheryl Lopez of Bettendorf; his son, David Archibald of Davenport; and five grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Ona, Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy White; and his daughter-in-law, Teresa Archibald.
