William A. “Bill” Brown, 65, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa went to be with his Savior on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport following an illness.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the First Assembly of God, 1811 18 th St. in Bettendorf.  He will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park near his beloved daughter.  Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born January 16, 1948 in Seymour, Iowa, the son of Lester & Helen (Cutler) Brown.  Bill was united in marriage to Priscilla L. Spencer in Seymour on December 4, 1976.

He worked as a hotline mill operator at the Alcoa Company retiring after 32 years of faithful service.

Bill was a “people person” who loved the times he spent with his beloved family and many friends.  In addition, he was an avid mushroom hunter who taught many others how to find the wonderful and hard-to-find morel mushroom.  Ford Mustangs were a favorite of Bill’s and he spent many hours in the garage restoring and working on his car.  He also was ready and willing to help others with whatever was needed.  His Savior, Jesus Christ, was the guiding force and strength in Bill’s life.  When given the opportunity, Bill loved to share the story of how his faith changed his life and how others could come to know the Lord as well.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Priscilla; his daughters, Missy (Mikel) Cary of Surprise, Arizona, Antionia Rees of Bettendorf, Helena Blakney of Surprise, Arizona and Rebecca (Zach) Bollinger of Silvis, Illinois; his sons, Christopher (Della) Brown in Minnesota, Matthew Brown in Minnesota and Joshua (Lindsey) Brown of LeClaire, Iowa; twenty-four grandchildren; four great-grandchild; his sister, Rosemary Powders of Seymour, Iowa; his brother, Larry (Carol) Brown of Seymour; his son-in-law, Jerry Felsing of Walcott, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jimmy Brown; and his daughter, LuCretia Felsing in 2008.
