William E. “Bill” Crowe, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Monday, January 3, 2011 at his home.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

He was born in Hamilton, Alabama on September 27, 1929, the son of Frank & Rosabelle (Godsey) Crowe. On October 12, 1963, he was united in marriage to Donna J. Welch in Moline, Illinois.

Bill retired in 1984 as a fork truck operator the International Harvester Company of East Moline, Illinois after 30 years of faithful service.

Following retirement, Bill & Donna enjoyed twenty-five wonderful years traveling in their motor home throughout the United States, making wonderful friends along the way. He love to go fishing, enjoyed camping and treasured the times spent with his beloved family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Donna; his sons, Randall Crowe of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Anthony Glenn (Sue) Crowe of Decatur, Alabama and Gary Owen (Joan) Crowe of Rockford, Illinois; ten grandchildren; his sisters, Lenore Sims of Detroit, Alabama, Pearlie Lacy of Sulligent, Alabama and Joyce Sizemore of Amory, Mississippi; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces & great-great-nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Hazel; and his brothers, Fred Crowe and Ural Crowe.
