William R. Duex, 81, of Davenport, died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
Bill was born May 6, 1933 in Davenport, the son of Raymond & Lois G. Thomas (Pfister.) Duex He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Bill was united in marriage to Helen M. Holden on January 14, 1956 in Davenport.
Bill retired from Per-Mar in 1998 as a security guard. He was a member of American Legion Post 26. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed Bingo, Euchre, Canasta and frequenting the casinos.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Helen; his daughters, April (Frank) Lane, Joyous Duex and Gayla Duex; his son, Raymond Duex, all of Davenport; his grandson, Eric Duex; his step-sister, Candice (Thomas) Mottley of Florida; his brothers, Thomas Duex of Bettendorf and Steve Thomas of Davenport; several nieces and nephews; and Bill’s close friend, Carl Gilley of Colorado.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, James Thomas.
Bill’s family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff of Genesis Hospice for all their care and comfort during this time.
