William R. “Bill” Harvey, Jr., 63, a life-long resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died at his home on Friday, May 31, 2013.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf. He will be laid to rest at Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born October 1, 1949 in Dexter, Iowa, the son of William & Helen (Ratliff) Harvey Sr. He was a graduate of Bettendorf High School and attended the University of Iowa and the University of Dubuque. On May 1, 1976, he was united in marriage to Suzanne Schooley in Bettendorf.
Bill was the retired President and Chief Operating Officer of TECO Constructors of Bettendorf. He was instrumental in the construction of water and sewer treatment plants in many communities in the Iowa/Illinois area.
He took a great interest in his community and country and always kept up with local and national current affairs.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Bill & Helen Harvey Sr. of Bettendorf; his sister, Kristen (Ross) Wirth of Pickerington, Ohio; his brother, Vern (Chris) Harvey of Bettendorf; his nieces & nephews, Jimmy (Shawnda) Wirth of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sara (Kevin) Love of Portland, Oregon, Mitch (Robyn) Harvey of Bettendorf and Megan Harvey of Bettendorf; and his grand-nieces & grand-nephews, Max White and Nicholas Harvey of Bettendorf, Joshua Love of Portland, Oregon, and Ryker and Reese Wirth of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
