William L. Hillyer, 72, of Bettendorf, died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Trinity Bettendorf.
Private family services will be held and memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Bill was born October 11, 1940 in Bushnell, Illinois, the son of Blake & Letha (Helms) Hillyer. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline A. Smith on February 25, 1961 in Davenport.
He had retired from the former Expert Painters in Davenport after over thirty years as a professional painter.
Bill enjoyed the riverboats, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jackie; his daughters, Debra L. Posey of Davenport, Lori Vearrier of Terre Haute, Indiana and Robi (Rick) Scheel of Davenport; his son, Rodney Vearrier of Colona, Illinois; his grandchildren, Karlton (Heather) Posey, Jennifer (Kevin) Van Winkle, Eric Hillyer, Chelsea (Nick) Akright, Brandon Posey, Cameron (Justin) Shelton, Danielle Vearrier, Michelle Harris, Chandler Coronell and Madison Coronell; sixteen great-grandchildren; and his sister, Sandra Sue (Eliseo) Reyna of Moline, Illinois.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Richard Hillyer.
