William Lauritsen

William Hunt Lauritsen, 97, a resident of Pleasant Valley, Iowa died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Riverview Manor, Pleasant Valley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Pleasant Valley.  Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

William was born February 3, 1915 in Pleasant Valley Township, Iowa the son of John and Emelia (Andersen) Lauritsen.   He served in the 321st Infantry of the United States Army during World War II.  He was united in marriage to Loreta H. Sreeves in Davenport, Iowa on January 9, 1944.  She preceded him in death on September 24, 2007.

William worked as a farmer in his younger years and later worked for the Pleasant Valley School District.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Coreta (Bill) Reed, Dunnellon, Florida and Cynthia Henseler, Republic, Missouri; his sons, William E. Lauritsen, Bettendorf and John (Donna) Lauritsen, Le Claire, Iowa; his grandchildren John, Holly, Wendy, Rochelle and Bobby;  his great-grandchildren, Raymond, Daymien, Megan and Levi and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Loreta he was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Agatha and Agnes and his brothers, Harry and George.
