William Odom Sr.

William J. Odom Sr. 78, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Monday, August 19, 2019 at his home.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, August 26, 2019 at the funeral home where a Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

He was born in Spruce Pine, Alabama on April 23, 1941, the son of Walter Biggie and Lula Bertha (Whitfield) Odom.  On July 12, 1975, was united in marriage to Cathy E. Cirillo in Bettendorf.

Bill retired from the Case IH Company of East Moline, Illinois after 32 years of service.  Following his retirement, he worked as the maintenance supervisor at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf for 25 years, retiring again in 2016.

He was an active and faithful member of Hamilton Masonic Lodge #664 and Early Morning Masonic Lodge #672 where he served as Worshipful Master in both lodges.  Over the years, Bill was active in many masonic roles within the lodges especially the youth organizations and DeMolay.  He also served as Senior Grand Deacon of the Iowa Grand Lodge from 1986-1987.  Wherever and whenever help was needed, Bill was always there to lend a hand or volunteer his time.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Cathy; his daughters, Teresa Ann (Juaquin) Torres of Davenport, Iowa, Brenda L. (Mike) Buehneman of Sigourney, Iowa, Lisa A. Lee of Blue Grass, Iowa and Chrissy Marie Connelly of Bettendorf; his sons, Curtis W. Odom of Davenport, William Dale (Mari) Odom of Wood River, Illinois, Kenneth A. Odom of Iowa City, Iowa and William J. (Misty) Odom Jr. of Clinton, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and his sister, Judy (Tom) Anderson of DeKalb, Illinois.

Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary, Mildred and Willamae; his brothers, Lewis, Hollis, Eugene, Dolphis and M.C.; his great-grandson, Maysun; and by his parents.
