L. William "Bill" Moats, 61, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away Friday, June 11, 2004 at his home following a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf. Burial will be in. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Rick’s House of Hope.
He was born December 5, 1942 in Billings, Montana, the son of Lloyd Vincent & Lucille Elizabeth (Livingston) Moats. Bill received his degree in engineering from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. On January 21, 1967, he was united in marriage to Susan C. Rosteck in Waterloo, Iowa.
Bill was employed as an OSHA Safety Instructor for American Safety Training for many years. In earlier years, he had been a plant engineer at several other area industries.
He was an active & faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church and served on many boards, committees and other church related activities. In addition, he was a member of Toastmasters International and the American Institute of Professional Engineers. Bill was a tireless volunteer and always willing to say yes when help was needed. He served on the Bettendorf Plumbing Commission for 15 years and served as a softball, baseball and basketball coach as well. He was also an advisor for Junior Achievment and was the recipient of their Project Business Award.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sue; his daughters, Alyssa Benett and Amy Moats, both of Bettendorf; his son & daughter-in-law, W. Kurt & Carrie Moats of Grimes, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jessica, Brice, Jackson, Pacey & Mattisen; his mother, Lucille Moats of Bozeman, Montana; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Richard & Rosie Moats of Bozeman and Timothy & Debi Moats of Idaho Falls, Idaho; one niece; and seven nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
