William “BJ” Cockayne, 48, of Davenport passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
BJ was born on September 28, 1971 in Davenport, the son of Larry and Susan (Fields) Cockayne. In 1989 he graduated from Davenport West High School. BJ later completed the journeyman apprenticeship program. He was most recently employed in the maintenance department at Seaberg Industries, Davenport.
In his younger years, BJ was known for his dancing skills especially breakdancing. He played in the Iowa Little League and was a baseball coach in adulthood. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and outdoorsmen. He enjoyed fishing and was an RC car enthusiast. He had an appreciation for cars and was known for his loud stereo systems. BJ loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Braiden Cockayne of Davenport; father and step-mother, Larry (Tracy) Cockayne of Davenport; brother, Jimmy (Elise) Cockayne of Davenport; sister, Julie Cockayne of Tulsa, Oklahoma; niece, Samantha Cockayne; granddaughter, Evelynn Cockayne; step-daughter, Brittney Lane of Davenport; step-siblings, Robby (Leticia) Graham of Rock Island, Kara (Andy) Woods of Davenport, Danny (Lele) Graham of Davenport; step-nieces and nephews, Robby and Gracie Graham; step-grandchildren, Myla and Maddox Salazar.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan; his maternal grandparents, William and Virginia Fields; and paternal grandparents, John and Ruth Cockayne.
