William Howard Mangels, 74, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born December 2, 1930 in Davenport, the son of John Herman & Rosana (Meckel) Mangels. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1953.
Bill was employed as an ironworker and welder.
Among the things he enjoyed were driving a stock car, watching baseball, doing crossword puzzles and watching the eagles along the river. He was a hard worker and loved the time he spent with his kids.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Anthony Scott McFarland and Michael Edward McFarland, both of Davenport; his step-sons, Hershall McFarland and Shawn Patrick McFarland, both of Davenport; and his granddaughter, Alyssa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and four brothers.
