Winston D. Tabor, 91, a resident of Davenport, Iowa and husband of Geraldine “Geri” (Kline) Tabor died on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, 660 10th Avenue West. Milan, Illinois. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born June 28, 1918 in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Claude & Grace (Wilson) Tabor and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
His extended family members are JoAnne Kline, Catherine Youngers, Sheryl Graham and Lori Huesmann; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was formerly married to Dot Cushing Monson Maine and their family members were Sandy, Gary & Carolyn; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren
Winston was employed as a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal for many years before retirement.
He will long be remembered for his smile, compassion and concern for others. Some of his best memories were times spent in Maine, Massachusetts and Deere Island, New Brunswick.
