Wyman V. May, 85, a resident of Bettendorf, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at home.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Convoy of Hope, or the Salvation Army of Davenport.
Born on June 18, 1932 in Yampertown, Alabama, Wyman was the son of V.C. and Lillian (Silas) May. On September 6, 1958 in Bettendorf, Wyman married Carolyn D. Wilson.
Wyman served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. He was a regulator journeyman for the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company for 43 years, retiring in 1994. He attended Bethel Church in Rock Island. Wyman loved to “tinker” with things, and cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Wyman was proud to have gone on an Honor Flight three years ago.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Lisa (Tracy) Bates of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Debra (Adrian) Peña of Bettendorf. Grandchildren; Erin (Jonathan) McHale, of Roseville, California, Lauren Peña of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jennifer Peña of Boynton Beach, Florida, Kyle Bates, of Avon, Indiana, and Nathan Bates, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a sister, Polly Kennedy of Gulfport, Mississippi.
Wyman was preceded in death by his parents; and his three sisters, Lucille, Virginia, and Inez.
